Gibson Dove - USA - 1993-1995
Gibson Dove, made in the Montana Factory, USA, in need of a new adventure. Gibsons factory in Bozeman, Montana was first opened in 1989, well known for their excellent quality and commitment to tradition.
The Dove was Gibson's second square-shouldered dreadnought, after the introduction of the Hummingbird in 1960. The Dove's set of unique visual details has made it one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever made.
Featuring a solid Sitka Spruce top, it shows some wonderful light quilting, you don’t see many that look quite like this. Flame Maple back and sides. Flame Maple neck with a bound Rosewood fretboard. Split parallelogram Mother of Pearl inlays. Rosewood Bridge with Dove wings inlayed in MOP. The Dove Scratch plate is slightly faded but still retains lots of its colour. The dove inlay looks beautiful in its original Mother of Pearl.
Tuners have been replaced to gold Gotohs. They look excellent and pop out beautifully alongside the headstock inlay and the back of the cherry neck.
Note: You may notice that the serial numbers on the label (1995) and headstock (1993) do not match, this appears to be a factory error. A quick bit of reading online shows that this is not unusual for Gibson! We've searched both serial numbers and they come back as they should, the label is correct for a '95 and the headstock serial is correct for '93.
Original frets are in excellent condition, zero fretware, its had a recent fretwear. Plenty of height on the bridge saddle. All of the binding on the guitar is fully intact. Plays beautifully and sounds wonderful. Every note really sings!
Overall this guitar is in great condition. Fair amount of checking present all around the body. Notable small dings to the top of the body located to the right of the bridge, below the scratch plate and the top right of the scratch plate. All fair signs that this guitar has been played!
Comes with a new Gibson hardshell case.
